What’s It Like Being On Furlough

My Furlough Experience

About Ligtas

A first-hand account

I’m in the last week of my first month of being furloughed, having been isolated for 2 weeks prior to that due to my husband showing symptoms. I’m pleased to report that neither of us needed hospital treatment and recovered.

As a field-based consultant, who is of later age now! It’s shown me that I can find plenty to do when I finally retire that doesn’t include travelling. Since being able to go out I’ve been the main shopper for my mum who’s over 70, my father in law and neighbour who are over 90. Then sometimes for my daughter in law who’s a key worker in a care home, who has 2 young children.

I’ve limited my shopping to twice a week and only get essentials

Puzzles

Other times I’ve kept myself busy with cooking, crafts including embroidery and card making. I’m big into puzzles, (Harry Potter, GoT, Star Wars etc.) My current embroidery challenge is meerkats for my husband. I challenged myself sewing face masks and got my mum’s 54-year-old sewing machine out (unused in over 30 years) I surprised myself at how well they turned out. (Not good enough for front line, but great for family and friends.)
