Scottish Fire and Rescue Service
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is the national fire and rescue service of Scotland. Formed by merging eight regional fire services in 2013, SFRS is the largest fire brigade in the United Kingdom, with a workforce of approximately 8,000 staff.
Committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and professional development, SFRS plays a critical role in protecting communities across Scotland.
To enhance safety knowledge and support professional development, SFRS required an accredited training programme to deliver IOSH Managing Safely certification to around 800 staff members. The training needed to be completed within a tight 6-month timeframe while minimising disruption to the organisation’s critical operations and maintaining emergency response readiness.
Following a formal public sector tendering process, Ligtas was awarded the contract to deliver a technology-driven training solution through our Learning Management System (LMS):
Rapid Implementation
Access to the eLearning platform was provided within 48 hours, with staff receiving secure login credentials via email.
User-Friendly eLearning Portal
The LMS allowed staff to complete their training at their own pace, accommodating their work schedules and ensuring minimal impact on their operational duties.
Dedicated Support
A named point of contact was available throughout the project, ensuring smooth communication and rapid resolution of any queries.
Progress Monitoring
Regular progress reports were shared with SFRS, enabling management to track course completion and maintain oversight of training targets.
