Ligtas Compete in LSH's Brecon Adventure Triathlon to Raise Money for Alzheimer's Society

A shared challenge. A meaningful cause. A team effort to remember.

On 10th April 2025, six members of the Ligtas team — Daniella Regan, Cerianne James, Helen Jerman-Crandon, Shellie Ann Rogers, Corey Vranch, and Ceri Robins Jones — were invited to take part in the Brecon Adventure Triathlon, joining our partners at Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH).

The event was held in support of Alzheimer’s Society, LSH’s charity of the year. It brought together teams from across the property and consultancy sectors for a demanding and memorable experience through the Brecon Beacons — combining a steep hike, a fast-paced cycle, and a final push by canoe.

A Three-Part Challenge: The Route

1. The Ascent
The day began with a 4.6-mile trek up Pen y Fan, South Wales’ highest peak. The terrain was tough and the climb relentless — but the team spirit, and the reward of panoramic views, made it all worthwhile.

“There’s something about reaching the top as a team — it’s not just about the view, it’s about how you feel getting there.”

2. The Ride
Next came a 10-mile cycle, mostly downhill but far from easy. Narrow, winding roads demanded focus, balance, and a steady nerve.

3. The Paddle
Finally, a 2-mile canoe along the Brecon Canal. With tired legs and aching arms, it was a final team effort to reach the finish line at Brynich Barn.

Why We Took Part

The cause behind the challenge meant everything. Alzheimer’s Society is close to many of our hearts — several team members at Ligtas have been personally affected by dementia, and the wider team felt deeply connected to the purpose behind every step, spin, and stroke.

“This was more than a team event — it was a chance to do something that really matters.”

Together with teams from LSH, Lockton, Jones FM, and The Adventure Element, over £10,700 was raised — surpassing the original target of £7,500, thanks to the generosity of more than 350 supporters.

More Than a Challenge – A Shared Experience

We were proud to be invited by Lambert Smith Hampton and grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside our partners in support of such an important cause.
For us at Ligtas, the experience was about more than the physical challenge — it reflected the values we bring to our work each day:

  • Preparedness – showing up with purpose and commitment
  • Teamwork – supporting one another throughout
  • Shared purpose – contributing to something bigger than ourselves

Taking part was a powerful reminder that collaboration and community are at the heart of what we do — whether we’re facing complex safety challenges or paddling through the Brecon Canal. And we’re thankful we did it together.
