Job Purpose

At Ligtas we believe safety isn’t a checkbox, it’s a culture. We go beyond compliance to help organisations build proactive, practical, and people-focused approaches to health and safety.

With over 30 years of experience behind us, we’ve earned a reputation for quality, credibility, and consistency. But we’re not standing still. As part of our next phase of growth, we’re investing in our training function to meet rising demand across face-to-face, virtual, and on-demand formats. That’s where you come in.

We’re looking for an experienced Health and Safety Trainer Consultant who can deliver exceptional learning experiences while supporting our clients with consultancy services when the training schedule is quieter. If you love inspiring people, explaining the "why" behind safety, and flexing between classroom and site-based work, this could be a perfect fit.

The Role

This is a dual-role opportunity, though your primary responsibility is training delivery, you’ll also support our clients through consultancy when needed. Think of it as working across two gears: front-facing training when the calendar is full, and high-quality, fee-earning consultancy when there’s space to step in. Both are crucial to how Ligtas delivers value.

You’ll be responsible for delivering accredited and bespoke training sessions, including tailored, sector-specific modules for clients in property, retail, manufacturing, and more in addition to our tailored NEBOSH and IOSH courses. You’ll deliver in-person at client sites, lead virtual classroom sessions, and contribute to digital, on-demand training formats. It’s not just delivery; we want you to actively shape how our training feels and lands. That means developing and updating materials, suggesting new formats, improving learner engagement techniques, and ensuring content reflects both technical accuracy and our brand tone.

You’ll also represent Ligtas in client webinars and external events, helping position us as thought leaders in the industry. You'll be confident on camera, able to answer live questions, and skilled at breaking down complex ideas into relatable takeaways. To do this, you’ll need to be comfortable, flexible and enthusiastic about regular travel around the UK.

When not delivering training, you’ll support consultancy delivery, this could include general health and safety assessments, fire or legionella work (depending on your specialisms), or supporting clients with practical advice around compliance. This side of the role ensures your diary remains billable year-round, and gives you variety and flexibility across different service lines.

You’ll work closely with the Head of Training to maintain consistency across the Ligtas training offer, and with the Sales and Operations teams to ensure what we sell is deliverable and what we deliver supports future opportunities.

Your week might look like:

  • Delivering a 2-day training course for a national retail group (classroom-based)
  • Hosting a lunchtime webinar on upcoming HSE changes alongside our Sales team
  • Tweaking course slides to improve clarity and add fresh case studies
  • Carrying out a site-based gap analysis and producing a report for a client
  • Joining a monthly review session with the Head of Training to refine new learning offers
  • Following up with a client to tailor a blended learning plan for their remote team

This role suits someone who:

  • Enjoys teaching and knows how to hold a room (or a Zoom)
  • Has an eye for clarity and a feel for language; presentation matters here
  • Can balance structure with flexibility, no two weeks will look the same
  • Is comfortable working across formats, sectors and safety disciplines
  • Wants to be involved in shaping how training is created, not just delivered
  • Is willing to travel regularly for on-site training and consultancy visits across the UK.

Core Competencies

We’re looking for someone with a strong professional foundation and a proactive mindset. You will demonstrate:

  • Passion for your subject and an ability to inspire success in all learners
  • At least Technical Membership of IOSH (or working towards it), with current CPD
  • Experience delivering health and safety training, or willingness to complete an IOSH Train the Trainer course
  • Honest and principled, with a strong sense of professional ethics
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Willingness to develop your knowledge and skills continuously
  • Ability to work independently, with the initiative to manage your own diary and workload
  • Enthusiasm and a collaborative approach—this is very much a team role
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to thorough, quality work
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Flexibility and responsiveness to business and client needs
  • Good IT literacy, including Microsoft Office
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel, including overnight stays

Education

Essential

  • NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent Level 3 qualification) in Occupational Health and Safety
  • A recognised adult training qualification at Level 3 or higher (e.g. IOSH Train the Trainer, Level 3 Award in Education and Training), or a willingness to complete this upon appointment
  • Up-to-date CPD record and IOSH membership (TechIOSH or working toward)

Desirable

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 H&S qualification
  • Additional qualifications in specialist fields such as:
    • NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety
    • Legionella Risk Assessment/Management certification
    • NEBOSH Construction Certificate
  • A science-based qualification at Level 3 or above (useful for water, COSHH or environmental work)
  • Experience in designing or contributing to the development of training content (including e-learning or blended formats)

Why Ligtas?

  • NEBOSH Gold Learning Partner with ‘Outstanding’ IOSH Provider status
  • National reach, personal feel; clients across the UK, but a tight-knit team
  • A brand committed to progression, not just compliance
  • Straight-talking culture rooted in professionalism, care, and consistency
  • Your ideas and voice matter, we’re growing, and you’ll help shape how
