The Fire Safety Act 2021 is part of a series of changes to fire and building safety that the Government is introducing following the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy in 2017.
The background
It amends the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, with the intention of improving fire safety in multi-occupancy domestic premises.
The Act requires the owners and managers of multi-occupied residential buildings to ensure that the fire risk assessments for such buildings encompass the structure, external walls and flat entrance doors.
