Ligtas expands the consulting team - part 5
Ligtas have gone through some exciting changes, the business is growing, and we have some great customers to support.
With that in mind, we set out to find people to join the team who care about health and safety and have a similar ethos, and can add value and build trust for our clients.
Meet Ian Smith, who has joined the consultancy team.

Ian has joined Ligtas and brings 6 years of water management experience with him. Ian started as a water technician carrying out various tasks including monitoring and inspection as well as cleaning and disinfection services. He then progressed to become a legionella risk assessor carrying out assessments for different types of water systems in industrial, commercial, educational, health, and residential sectors.
Ian now looks forward to a new challenge at Ligtas and says ‘I am excited to meet my new colleagues and our clients.’
Outside of work, Ian watches sports, in particular football and boxing. He is happily married with 2 young children and he says, ‘I am successfully convincing them to become long-suffering Birmingham City fans!’.

Meet Paul Oakden, who has joined the consultancy team as a Health, Safety, and Fire consultant.
Prior to joining Ligtas In August 2022, Paul states that his career has largely been in Operations Management within the leisure sector. He stated he spent 16 years at the largest theme park in the UK, eventually becoming Head of Operations.
In addition to this, he has also worked as Ops Manager at holiday parks, visitor attractions, and training providers, as well as interim GM/consultant roles at hotels.
Paul said, ‘I moved into a Health, Safety, and Fire role in the prison service in 2020, a challenging and diverse environment where the safety of all is of paramount importance, particularly in COVID times.’
Outside of work, Paul states,’ I am a keen (but amateur!) musician who has played in several bands.’
