The background
DSEAR is a specific set of legislation that addresses the risk of both explosive cloud ignition and explosive type events. It applies to flammable gases and liquids but equally to combustible dusts. These Regulations impose a requirement for a specific type of risk assessment that assesses the risk of an explosion occurring and the controls to mitigate their effects and stop the propagation of an explosion should it occur.

- You have identified all processes/uses of dangerous substances associated with your work activities
- You have DSEAR compliant risk assessments covering all of these processes/uses
- Where required DSEAR Zones have been identified, assessed and established
- Suitable management arrangements have been implemented to minimise the risks associated with Dangerous Substances, including meeting the general requirements
- Mandatory training requirements have been met.
